Despite the negative vibes, I enjoyed Kill Bill, Volume 1, the ultimate get-revenge-on-your-fellow-bad-ass-assassins story. It wasn't Pulp Fiction, but it was pulpy goodness with many geysers of blood.

Big Fish, the yarn of the boy who learns yarn-spinning ain't so bad, was a disappointment. Not just because it was Tim Burton, but because it looked like fun genre goofiness. Instead, it's a feel-good movie of the likes of Forrest Gump, which if you liked, you'll probably like Big Fish. A good popcorn movie.

The Triplets of Belleville! A snazzy tune to tap your toe to, a satiric jab here and there, a bicyclist heist from France to the urban wilds of New York, but a deep not too deep unless my three words of French were water wings too buoyant for further plumbing.

Oh, the most anticipated this week is... Friends - The Series Finale, right? No! Jonny Quest - The Complete First Season! I've been dying to see these for years. (I'm also eager to see The Fog of War.)

I saw Monster by happy mistake since Belleville had not arrived on time. This may be the best DVD to be released this season. Monster tells the true story of the serial killer who killed for love and encroaching insanity. What a beautiful mix of emotions this was, the portrayals all sadly and vibrantly real.
